This artwork by Domenico Robusti achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2019. In the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction, the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Half-Length sold for USD 76,250.00 (€ 68,391.78) - well above the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00. Admittedly, works by Domenico Robusti have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A group portrait of four Venetian senators, bust-length in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 341,000.00 (€ 398,684.33).
