Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Joakim Daniel Wahrendorff (1726-1803), a councillor in the Chamber of Commerce, in blue coat, beige striped waistcoat, white shirt and frilled cravat, powdered wig en queue by Domenico Bossi was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,676.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Domenico Bossi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Duke Adam of Württemberg (1792-1847), In Red Coat With Gold-Embroidered Red Facings, Gold Tassels And Buttons, Fur Collar And Dark Cravat, Wearing The Breast-Star of The Royal Württemberg Order of The Golden Eagle in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 19,200.00 (€ 27,849.42).
