Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2010 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Christ Among The Doctors by Dirck van Baburen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 86,500.00 (€ 62,364.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dirck van Baburen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Opfergabe an Ceres. Um 1621. in September last year with an auction result of CHF 1,408,300.00 (€ 1,462,138.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2010 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Christ Among The Doctors von Dirck van Baburen zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 86.500,00 (€ 62.364,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dirck van Baburen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Opfergabe an Ceres. Um 1621. im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 1.408.300,00 (€ 1.462.138,72).
