Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Kingfisher I; Kingfisher II by Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury was auctioned at Christies in New York in March last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 17,640.00 (€ 15,901.92). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot An Inmate of the Harem sold at auction in October 2021 with the realized price of GBP 20,250.00 (€ 23,990.78).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Kingfisher I; Kingfisher II von Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 17.640,00 (€ 15.901,92) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit An Inmate of the Harem im Oktober 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 20.250,00 (€ 23.990,78).
