signed 'D. ab Alsloot. S.A.Pic.' (lower centre)
oil on copper, stamped on the reverse with the maker's mark of Pieter Stas and the stamp of the City of Antwerp and dated '1605' (see fig. 1)

Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2006 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master Pictures, which included the work A Wooded Landscape With An Amorous Couple Seated By A Tree And Elegant Company Strolling On A Path Near A River by Denijs van Alsloot. The price achieved of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 122,966.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. Admittedly, works by Denijs van Alsloot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A View Of The Abbey Of Groenendael Near Brussels In Winter in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 468,000.00 (€ 695,088.03).

Im Juli 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Old Master Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Wooded Landscape With An Amorous Couple Seated By A Tree And Elegant Company Strolling On A Path Near A River von Denijs van Alsloot zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 84.000,00 (€ 122.966,15) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Denijs van Alsloot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A View Of The Abbey Of Groenendael Near Brussels In Winter im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 468.000,00 (€ 695.088,03).
