DENG FEN (1894-1964) Lady with Fan Scroll, mounted for framing, ink and colour on paper 83.5 x 28.8 cm. (32 7 ⁄ 8 x 11 3 ⁄ 8 in.) Inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist Dated fifth month, guimao year (1963) Two collector's seals of Ou Zhenxiong (1917-1994) NOTE: A native of Canton, Ou Zhenxiong was a renowned Hong Kong-based collector of Chinese paintings and calligraphies, whose studio name is Xiong Zhai. A close friend of many modern Chinese masters, amongst whom were Zhang Daqian, Pu Ru, Fu Baoshi, Yu Youren and Lin Fengmian. Ou was able to build a collection superb in both quantity and quality.

This artwork by Deng Fen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Lady with Fan sold for HKD 52,920.00 (€ 6,341.69) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Deng Fen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Encounter By The Lakeside Pavilion in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 7,060,000.00 (€ 777,036.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Deng Fen erzielte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Lady with Fan für HKD 52.920,00 (€ 6.341,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Deng Fen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Encounter By The Lakeside Pavilion im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 7.060.000,00 (€ 777.036,40).
