Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fanny, a Favourite Spaniel of H. Erskine Esq. by Dean Wolstenholme, Sen. was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,820.00 (€ 3,281.36). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dean Wolstenholme, Sen. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Essex Hunt, 1831: The Start of The Hunt At Matching Green; Full Cry From Leading Roothing To High Easter; Gone To Ground At Man Wood With A View of Hatfield Broad Oak Beyond; And The Kill From Dunnon High Wood At Easton Lodge, The Seat of The Rig in May 2006 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 4
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Essex Hunt, 1831: The Start of The Hunt At Matching Green; Full Cry From Leading Roothing To High Easter; Gone To Ground At Man Wood With A View of Hatfield Broad Oak Beyond; And The Kill From Dunnon High Wood At Easton Lodge, The Seat of The Rig im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 43.790,23).
