Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Voltron XXIV by David Smith was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000,000.00 – 7,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,375,000.00 (€ 4,517,565.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by David Smith have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2016 the work Zig I was auctioned for USD 9,210,000.00 (€ 8,271,216.88).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Voltron XXIV von David Smith wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000.000,00 – 7.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.375.000,00 (€ 4.517.565,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von David Smith konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Mai 2016 die Arbeit Zig I für USD 9.210.000,00 (€ 8.271.216,88) versteigert.
