Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by David Goldblatt could be acquired at Sothebys in London in October 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work South African 'The Sheriff Knocking/Conditions Apply, Oudtshoorn, Western Cape', 2006 changed hands for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,752.88) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by David Goldblatt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Selected Images of South Africa in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 51,510.99).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von David Goldblatt konnte im Oktober 2018 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art wechselte die Arbeit South African 'The Sheriff Knocking/Conditions Apply, Oudtshoorn, Western Cape', 2006 für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.752,88) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 9.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Goldblatt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Selected Images of South Africa im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 51.510,99).
