Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work American a Halt by Daniel Ridgway Knight was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 62,500.00 (€ 52,529.84). Admittedly, works by Daniel Ridgway Knight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Coming from the Garden in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 402,000.00 (€ 462,387.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit American a Halt von Daniel Ridgway Knight im November 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 62.500,00 (€ 52.529,84) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Daniel Ridgway Knight auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Coming from the Garden im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 402.000,00 (€ 462.387,85).
