Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2013 Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Arthur & Charlotte Vershbow, which included the work Venus and Cupid (B. 46; Holl. 54) by Daniel Hopfer. The price achieved of USD 1,250.00 (€ 949.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Hopfer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saint George on Horseback slaying the Dragon in January this year with an auction result of USD 41,580.00 (€ 38,294.35).
