The work The Last Judgement (Holl. 20) by Daniel Hopfer was sold in the Old Master Prints including Property from the Collection of the Late Walter L. Strauss auction at Sothebys in London in December 2020. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,930.00 (€ 7,741.43), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Daniel Hopfer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint George on Horseback slaying the Dragon in January this year with an auction result of USD 41,580.00 (€ 38,294.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Last Judgement (Holl. 20) von Daniel Hopfer wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Old Master Prints including Property from the Collection of the Late Walter L. Strauss bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.930,00 (€ 7.741,43) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Daniel Hopfer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint George on Horseback slaying the Dragon im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 41.580,00 (€ 38.294,35).
