etching, circa 1507, on laid paper, watermark Escutcheon with Three Stars (similar to Piccard 160728; Augsburg, 1513), a very fine, early impression of the first state (of two), printing a little unevenly in the darkest areas, trimmed on, to or just inside the platemark on three sides, with thread margins in places, trimmed fractionally into the blank border below, in very good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Interior View of Saint Catherine's Church in Augsburg, with the Parable of the Widow's Mite by Daniel Hopfer was auctioned at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,123.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Daniel Hopfer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint George on Horseback slaying the Dragon in January this year with an auction result of USD 41,580.00 (€ 38,294.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Interior View of Saint Catherine's Church in Augsburg, with the Parable of the Widow's Mite von Daniel Hopfer kam im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.123,04) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Daniel Hopfer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint George on Horseback slaying the Dragon im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 41.580,00 (€ 38.294,35).
