Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A sailing vessel in rough sea by Anton Melbye was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2016. It achieved a price of EUR 9,375.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17 %. Admittedly, works by Anton Melbye have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work “Det franske Skruelinieskib Napoleon paa Rheden af Beikos i Bosperus” in March this year with an auction result of DKK 300,000.00 (€ 40,259.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A sailing vessel in rough sea von Anton Melbye kam im November 2016 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 9.375,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 17 %. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Anton Melbye auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit “Det franske Skruelinieskib Napoleon paa Rheden af Beikos i Bosperus” im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von DKK 300.000,00 (€ 40.259,38).
