Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Javanese Man by Czeslaw Mystkowski was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Art auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 35,000.00 (€ 4,044.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Czeslaw Mystkowski - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Reclining nude, which sold at auction in October 2007 for EUR 9,850.00.
