Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Study For A Sunset by Cy Gavin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,039.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cy Gavin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 91,980.00 (€ 81,491.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study For A Sunset von Cy Gavin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.039,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cy Gavin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 91.980,00 (€ 81.491,98).
