Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2013 Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Arthur & Charlotte Vershbow, which included the work Il Perfetto Scrittore. Venice: Rampazetti, Ca 1575. by Giovanni Francesco Cresci. The price achieved of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,797.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Francesco Cresci - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Essemplare di plu sorti lettere di M. Gio Francesco Cresci Milanese, Scrittore della Libraria Apostolica. Rome: Antonio Blado for the author, 1568., which sold at auction in April 2013 for USD 11,875.00 (€ 9,018.07).
