The work Allegory of the Vanitas (Sic Transit Gloria Mundi) by Cornelis van Dalen I was sold in the Dance of Death auction at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in November this year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,048.00 (€ 1,877.52), 37% above the upper estimate. With this result, Allegory of the Vanitas (Sic Transit Gloria Mundi) is even the most expensive work of art by Cornelis van Dalen I that we have observed at auctions so far.
