In the OLD MASTER PICTURES auction, the work An earthenware tankard, tobacco in a piece of paper, a bun, a white clay pipe, a roemer, sliced herring on a pewter plate and a kometenglas on a partly-draped wooden table sold for EUR 22,705.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cornelis Stangerus - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A gentleman seated at a table with two serving girls, which sold at auction in July 2003 for GBP 57,360.00 (€ 74,973.39).
