Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Death, Assumption And Coronation Of The Virgin by Cornelis Schut for USD 15,000.00 (€ 11,468.77). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Schut achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abduction Of Europa in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 352,800.00 (€ 302,910.62).
