This artwork by Cornelis Jan Mension achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2001. In the PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction, the work Lions Resting sold for NLG 2,937.50 (€ 1,411.90) - well above the upper estimate of NLG 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cornelis Jan Mension; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Cheeky Monkeys sold at auction in June 2006 with the realized price of EUR 1,800.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Cornelis Jan Mension erzielte im Juni 2001 bei Christies in Amsterdam einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS wurde die Arbeit Lions Resting für NLG 2.937,50 (€ 1.411,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von NLG 1.500,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Cornelis Jan Mension; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Cheeky Monkeys im Juni 2006 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 1.800,00.
