Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work A Coastal Landscape With Warships And Galleys Unloading Trade by Cornelis de Wael. The result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 22,281.77) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cornelis de Wael - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Troops manoeuvring in an extensive landscape, which sold at auction in July 2004 for GBP 33,460.00 (€ 50,565.42).
