Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection, which included the work A Cascade Between Cliffs by Claude-Louis Châtelet. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,267.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claude-Louis Châtelet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pyramid at the Château de Maupertuis in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 391,000.00 (€ 419,168.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Cascade Between Cliffs von Claude-Louis Châtelet zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.267,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Claude-Louis Châtelet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pyramid at the Château de Maupertuis im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 391.000,00 (€ 419.168,10).
