This artwork by Claude Lorraine Ferneley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2001. In the SPORTING ART & DOGS auction, the work Duncan'S Horses, A Scene From Macbeth sold for GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,783.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Claude Lorraine Ferneley; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A chestnut hunter with a roan pony and dog before a stable sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of GBP 10,800.00 (€ 15,892.93).
