In the SPORTING ART AND DOGS auction, the work A chestnut racehorse with jockey up, with horses exercising beyond sold for GBP 6,815.00 (€ 10,802.61) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Claude Lorraine Ferneley; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A chestnut hunter with a roan pony and dog before a stable sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of GBP 10,800.00 (€ 15,892.93).
