Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A blustery day on the foreshore at Hastings with fishermen sorting their catch by Clarkson Stanfield was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,787.29). Admittedly, works by Clarkson Stanfield have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Castle Cornet, Guernsey in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 53,788.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A blustery day on the foreshore at Hastings with fishermen sorting their catch von Clarkson Stanfield im Mai 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.787,29) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Clarkson Stanfield auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Castle Cornet, Guernsey im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.850,00 (€ 53.788,20).
