Auction result misses estimated price range
In August 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work The Back of the Barn by Clara Southern for AUD 11,162.50 (€ 6,594.27). This price was achieved in the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS at Christies in Sydney and was even below the estimate range of AUD 12,000.00 – 16,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Clara Southern have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2005 by the work Landscape With Cottage at AUD 17,925.00 (€ 11,018.60).
