Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An interior with a cavalier and lady seated in conversation at a repast, with a servant pouring wine and two monkeys, surrounded by food and crockery in disarray by Christoffel Jacobsz. van der Laemen was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings auction at Christies in London in November 2016. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,061.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Christoffel Jacobsz. van der Laemen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Elegant company eating and drinking on a terrace, a landscape beyond in May 2002 with an auction result of EUR 83,650.00.
