Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Day Auction, which included the work Butt Hidden in Lacy Groves (Hell Must Be a Pretty Place) by Christina Quarles. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 352,800.00 (€ 409,853.24), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christina Quarles achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Night Fell Upon Us Up On Us in May last year with an auction result of USD 4,527,000.00 (€ 4,218,618.95).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Butt Hidden in Lacy Groves (Hell Must Be a Pretty Place) von Christina Quarles zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 352.800,00 (€ 409.853,24) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christina Quarles erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Night Fell Upon Us Up On Us im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.527.000,00 (€ 4.218.618,95).
