Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Sex Tower by Chris Burden was worth GBP 6,000.00 (€ 7,091.30) to a buyer in December 2019. This price was achieved in the auction The Hoarder Sale at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chris Burden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Warship in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 502,000.00 (€ 450,830.71).

Die Arbeit Sex Tower von Chris Burden war einem Käufer im Dezember 2019 GBP 6.000,00 (€ 7.091,30) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion The Hoarder Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chris Burden erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Warship im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 502.000,00 (€ 450.830,71).
