Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Chintamoni Kar was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,374.53). Other works by Chintamoni Kar have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2013 by the work Odalisque at GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,507.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Chintamoni Kar im März 2012 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 12.500,00 (€ 9.374,53) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Chintamoni Kar wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juni 2013 die Arbeit Odalisque mit GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.507,69).
