It achieved a price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,254.99), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 58%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chintamoni Kar - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Odalisque, which sold at auction in June 2013 for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,507.69).

Die Arbeit Sakuntala von Chintamoni Kar wurde im Juni 2011 in der Auktion South Asian Modern + ContemporaryArt bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.254,99) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 58%. Für andere Arbeiten von Chintamoni Kar mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Odalisque beobachtet, die im Juni 2013 für GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.507,69) versteigert wurde.
