This artwork by Chintamoni Kar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2013. In the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Odalisque sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,507.69) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. This high result makes Odalisque the most expensive artwork by Chintamoni Kar that we have observed at auctions so far.
