Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Squadron Of French Warships On Their Way To Join The Allied Fleet During The Crimean Campaign (1854-56) by Chéri-François-Marguerite Dubreuil was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in London in January 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,325.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chéri-François-Marguerite Dubreuil - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rio de Janeiro, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,614.53).
