Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 1997-4 by Chen Qiang was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 37,500.00 (€ 4,381.00). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chen Qiang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 2001-29, which sold at auction in April 2015 for HKD 93,750.00 (€ 10,834.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 1997-4 von Chen Qiang im Oktober 2015 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 37.500,00 (€ 4.381,00) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Chen Qiang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 2001-29 beobachtet, die im April 2015 für HKD 93.750,00 (€ 10.834,75) versteigert wurde.
