In July 2003 Christies in London held the auction Twentieth Century British Art, which included the work Guardian Hands by Charles Sims. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,055.00 (€ 3,993.09), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Sims achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work In Elysium in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,428.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion Twentieth Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Guardian Hands von Charles Sims zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.055,00 (€ 3.993,09) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Sims erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit In Elysium im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.000,00 (€ 53.428,51).
