Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13 by Charles Seymour Wright was worth GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,469.40) to a buyer in September 2010. This price was achieved in the auction Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Seymour Wright - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Wright's photographs -- a large collection of approximately 1,573 vintage contact prints and gelatin silver prints by Wright and other of Ponting's pupils at Cape Evans, which sold at auction in September 2010 for GBP 73,250.00 (€ 84,721.40).
