Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street, which included the work Important Dining Table by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,035.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Rennie Mackintosh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Hill Town in Southern France, which sold at auction in October 2004 for GBP 94,850.00 (€ 136,515.24).
