Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Circus Scene by Charles Prendergast. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 13,200.00 (€ 10,874.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fantasy in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 704,075.00 (€ 631,514.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Circus Scene von Charles Prendergast zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 13.200,00 (€ 10.874,04) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Prendergast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fantasy im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 704.075,00 (€ 631.514,04).
