Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu and Selected Silver, which included the work Unknown by Charles Pierre Cior. The price achieved of GBP 360.00 (€ 534.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Pierre Cior - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young lady, full face in lace-bordered off-the-shoulder pale pink dress, pink belt with gold buckle, pearl necklace, her brown hair dressed in ringlets and an Apollo knot held by a tortoiseshell comb; foliate background; and her mother, facing left, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 822.50 (€ 1,344.34
