In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work George Washington by Charles Peale Polk. The result of USD 300,000.00 (€ 269,082.43) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Peale Polk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work George Washington, which sold at auction in January this year for USD 630,000.00 (€ 580,217.35).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit George Washington von Charles Peale Polk zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 300.000,00 (€ 269.082,43) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Peale Polk mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit George Washington beobachtet, die im Januar diesen Jahres für USD 630.000,00 (€ 580.217,35) versteigert wurde.
