Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2021 Christies in New York held the auction In Praise of America: Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and Broadsides, which included the work George Washington by Charles Peale Polk. The price achieved of USD 268,750.00 (€ 221,466.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Peale Polk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work George Washington, which sold at auction in January this year for USD 630,000.00 (€ 580,217.35).

Im Januar 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion In Praise of America: Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and Broadsides durch, in der auch die Arbeit George Washington von Charles Peale Polk zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 268.750,00 (€ 221.466,83) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Peale Polk mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit George Washington beobachtet, die im Januar diesen Jahres für USD 630.000,00 (€ 580.217,35) versteigert wurde.
