In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction The Scottish Sale, which included the work Old Brig O'Dee, Galloway by Charles Oppenheimer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,721.98), 65% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Oppenheimer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Piazzetta Venice, which sold at auction in September 2010 for GBP 49,250.00 (€ 56,962.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 65 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Scottish Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Old Brig O'Dee, Galloway von Charles Oppenheimer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.721,98) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Oppenheimer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Piazzetta Venice beobachtet, die im September 2010 für GBP 49.250,00 (€ 56.962,85) versteigert wurde.
