In November 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work Galloway Woodlands In Winter by Charles Oppenheimer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,536.46), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Oppenheimer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Piazzetta Venice in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 49,250.00 (€ 56,962.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im November 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Galloway Woodlands In Winter von Charles Oppenheimer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.625,00 (€ 12.536,46) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Oppenheimer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Piazzetta Venice im September 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 49.250,00 (€ 56.962,85).
