Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Charles Michel-Ange Challe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2016. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection auction, the work An Architectural Capriccio sold for GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,376.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Michel-Ange Challe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venus reclining in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 39,416.08).
