This artwork by Charles Malle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2017. In the Impressionist and Modern Art auction, the work La péniche, Canal Saint-Martin sold for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,451.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles Malle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bords de Seine à Paris sold at auction in June 2020 with the realized price of EUR 23,750.00.
