Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dutch fisherfolk On The Beach by Charles Leickert was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,318.72). Admittedly, works by Charles Leickert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work At the 'koek en zopie' in a panoramic winter landscape in October 2007 with an auction result of EUR 132,250.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Dutch fisherfolk On The Beach von Charles Leickert im Dezember 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.318,72) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Leickert auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit At the 'koek en zopie' in a panoramic winter landscape im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 132.250,00.
