Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Jupiter Seated On Clouds by Charles Le Brun was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in March 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 16,250.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Le Brun have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Head of a boy in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 204,000.00 (€ 149,341.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Jupiter Seated On Clouds von Charles Le Brun im März 2018 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 16.250,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Le Brun auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Head of a boy im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 204.000,00 (€ 149.341,14).
