This artwork by Charles Gregory achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2004. In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original auction, the work Washerwomen on the Italian coast sold for GBP 1,195.00 (€ 1,805.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Gregory achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Royal Yacht Squadron's Viking at anchor off Cowes; The Royal Yacht Squadron's Viking off the Needles, a pair in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 16,312.00 (€ 18,464.21).
