Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work A Collection Of Studies After Old Masters, Including Piero Della Francesca, Antonella Da Messina, Hans Memling, Ambrogio Lorenzetti And Others by Charles Fairfax Murray was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,626.77). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Fairfax Murray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The four seasons, which sold at auction in September 2016 for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,924.21).

Als die Arbeit A Collection Of Studies After Old Masters, Including Piero Della Francesca, Antonella Da Messina, Hans Memling, Ambrogio Lorenzetti And Others von Charles Fairfax Murray im Dezember 2017 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.626,77) mehr als dreimal so hoch.
